Moris GONTARD
Né
à Nantes en 1940.
Depuis longtemps sur la scène artistique, il est dans la sélection
française à la biennale de Venise en 1978. Son art, parti
de l'observation minutieuse du réel ( la feuille, l'herbe, la
porte ) évoluera vers une conception du paysage de plus en plus
éloignée du réalisme. Fort d'une liberté
acquise au prix d'une technique de plus en plus maîtrisée,
il n'en conserve que les essences essentielles qui inscrit son œuvre
dans la peinture de tradition française du paysage aquatique,
son sujet privilégié depuis quelques années.
Bien représenté dans le patrimoine des banques, BNP, BP, Caisse d'Épargne,
de sociétés privées, entre autre la RATP et le célèbre restaurant
Taillevent.

Present on the French art scene for many years, his work was included
in the French selection for the biennial exhibition in Venice in 1978.
His art starts off in meticulous observation of reality (the leaf, the
blade of grass, the door) then evolves toward a conception of
landscape that is further and further from realism. Strengthened by
the freedom gained from increasing mastery of his technique, he
conserves only the essential essence which inscribes his work in the
French tradition of aquatic landscapes, the subject matter he has
shown preference for in the last few years.
Well represented in the cultural patrimony of our banks, BNT, BP,
Caisse d’Epargne and other private firms, including the RATP and the
famous restaurant Taillevent.
